Watford looking to sign Chelsea defender

Watford are hoping to sign Chelsea star Nathan Ake on a permanent basis after the youngster impressed while on loan this season, according to reports from the Mirror.

Ake left Stamford Bridge on loan at the beginning of the campaign in order to play more first team football, and has been a revelation for manager Quique Sanchez Flores ever since joining the Hornets.

Now the Watford boss is hoping to sign Ake on a permanent contract at the end of the season after the 20-year-old replaced Jose Holebas as the club’s number one left back.

However, Ake is keen on making a return to Chelsea in the future, but if he is still not guaranteed regular playing time, he will consider a transfer to Vicarage Road.

Watford had a brilliant first half of the season, but has been on poor form recently with just one win in their last seven games.

Ake, 21, has made 23 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring one goal.
